Henk neem my na sy Pa se plaas toe, ontmoet sy ouers – paar jaar gelede. Neem die bakkie en ry bietjie rond. Ons sien ‘n duisendpoot.

Tracy: “Kyk! ‘n Shongololo.”
Henk: “Nee, dis ‘n duisendpoot.”
Tracy: “Ek weet. Shongololo is Zulu vir duisendpoot.”
Dit lyk nie of Henk my glo nie, maar stry ook nie te veel nie. Probeer mos nog vlerksleep.

Paar weke later werk Henk in Lesotho; vra glo ‘n local daar wat is ‘n Shongololo. Hy bel my daai aand.

Henk: “Shongololo is ‘n mielie pit.”
Tracy: “‘n Wat??”
Henk: “‘n Mielie pit”
Tracy: “Het die man Engels gepraat?”
Henk: “Ja…”
Tracy: “Het hy gesê ‘Milli-peeeed”
Henk: “Ja…”
Tracy: “Millipede is engels vir duisendpoot”
