Then this post would be funnier.

Trying to get Lili to carry her own backpack. The pack can’t be THAT heavy. She’s 2 and we’re potty training.  So in the bag are 5 shorts, 2 T-shirts, jeans, long top and a plethora of tiny panties. (Aren’t they the cutest! Not in a shifty kind of way, but in a aww so tiny with frilly elastic kind of way).

Peer pressure usually works to get her to do something… doesn’t work so lekker when she’s the only toddler in the room though. But I coax and cheer and dance when she DOES carry it.

Which brings us to this morning. Got her to carry the backpack, but I wasn’t ready to leave for daycare and work yet. So she’s tagging behind me and commenting on the shortage of catfood, when she starts whining. You know that sound. Meeuuuh. And she drops the pack. Heavy Mommy. You carry it.

But then she skips over to the counter where I keep my handbag. Will carry mom yellow bag. She pulls at the handle to get it off the counter *whomp* onto the floor. Man-handles it into her arms and waddles over to me. Here mommy, you carry too. Also heavy.

I had to stop her from pulling my extras bag off as well; that one might concuss her.

Think I’ll stick to her carrying the bread.

Here’s mine for this week:

We went on a mini weekendbreakaway to Caledon. On our way back we tried to pick up some caches. Snapped this pic while looking for GCGG35. I seriously suck at finding them; think it’s cause I use my phone’s gps. So, please Santa, bring me a real gps for Xmas this year…or even my birthday.

Anyhow, when the Dutch landed in the Cape in 1652, they saw some strange new plants; some with very fine leaves. Hence the plants specific in this part of our coastline are collectively known as fynbos.

And no, we didn’t find the cache.

Here’s mine for this week:

Went to water the future lawn yesterday. Lili brought her gieter with. Henk spent more time refilling it than watering the rest of the grass. Lili used toddler logic – water the bricks so that they will grow into walls… or some such – who knows how those rainbow cogwheels behind her dove eyes work.

A bit of the foundation is visible – the plinth to be exact. The builders have poured the floor and started on some walls.

and I keep on changing my mind about the bathroom layouts. 😉

Here’s mine for this week:

We visited the in-laws on the farm this weekend. It was also their annual wyk bazaar. About 9 families hold a fund raiser for their church. The total was over R42 000!
Later the afternoon we went to check up on some sheep and see if there is any sign of lynx up in the koppies. Henk and I posed by a dinosaur egg.

There are hardly any sharp boulders up there. Cause of the extreme temperatures the rocks heat up and the outer layers flake off leaving sound shapes. I love the colours of the boulders. Not too clued up on the science involved, but I imagine it’s due to oxidizing metals.

I edited the image with Picsay on my phone – adjusted the size, exposure and contrast. It was actually one of those washed out over-bleached sunny days.

Here’s mine for this week:

There is a gap between this Sunday and the previous Sunday entry. Henk had a brain-fart: decided to dig up the area where we had put the grass squares, embed the grass in the hole, and cover it all with dirt. My job was fertilising and watering.

It actually worked. The grass was pushing through the dirt. Here, in the pic, Henk is sorting out the garden hose so I can water the grass, and Amelia is playing a game of picking up rocks that fell on the foundation-cement-moat and relocating them.

Here’s mine for this week:

Our foundation is dug and cemented and filled and whatever else you are supposed to do with it. A guy that works with Henk had buildt a fishpond and little river, so he had some grass that we could plant so long.

We fetched it yesterday and placed the blocks like a checkerboard. The idea being that the grass will grow to cover the gaps, then cover the whole lot with fertile earth and the established grass will push and grow through the layer. In theory. Let’s see how it goes.
