From finland. A grandma from Rauma sent this – also a UNESCO WHS. Lovely watercolour of her home town.

Apparently Buffalo Bill had his ranch here.

Second time lucky! The first postcard went missing – the sender actually followed up when I didn’t register it – which I couldn’t cause I never received it. Thank you for resending!

Had a hard time reading this handwriting! Apparently “…this animal (bird) that you see on the tower is very typical of this reagion…”. And then there was a football reference.

It looks like a type of stork. Do you think it’s getting it’s bearings right before delivering a baby elephant?

Thisis one of my favoourites so far. Thinking of framing the card for our new house – the colours will work beautfully in the living area. Unless someone wants to buy me a print *hint hint* *hint hint* *hint hint*

I got her! I got her! Got Liberty herself! I confess, I enjoy tourist cards. I want to see The Grand Canyon, the Liberty Bell, the Pentagon, Empire State Building, Vagas lights – I want them ALL!!

I know I only meantioned the sites I can quickly pick out in my mind, I’m sure there are loads more sites and beautiful places that I still have to learn about. Same thing goes for RSA I suppose. Except for Table Mountain. I can never grow tired of that view. And I will send postcards of it as often as I can =)

Henk reckons there is a bed behind the hearth (behind that curtain) cause it’s cozy and warm there. But I think it’s more storage space… or maybe where you can leave bread dough to rise. I wrote the original sender a message, but I don’t think they know either.

This is an exampled of a typical dwelling of the 1800’s (in Finland).

This must be the sweetest little sketch of a lion.  The title is  A silent and thoughtful lion in the shade o memories-daisies. This was sent by a young postcrosser (14 years old) — [don’t you just h.a.t.e it when someone says ‘i am x years of age’ !? It does not make you sound more intelligent. You are wasting time and words by saying that. It’s just plain ugly. Some South AFrican tend to do that in interviews. It’s as of their brains switch of and autopilot is given a thesaurus for breakfast and the mouth off big words and clumsy sentenses. ] Enough rant. Thank you Miss D for the lovely card!

Some lovely coral / underwater scene from Taiwan. The card came from the National Museum of marine biology & aquarium.

Threadfin Butterflyfish

This has got to be the BIGGEST  {actual} postcard I’ve recieved so far. The in fo on the back is all in Russian, but I’ll trust that this is the fish’s zoological name: Chaetodon auriga.

Koli - National Landscape

It’s a Moomin stamp!

I think this view of Koli is breathtaking! It’s so open, and you almost wonder which is sky and which is water.

Phi Phi Islands, Krabi

This back view is bigger cause I want to show you all the stunning stamps that Nuch used. The one on the left is almost half the wifth of the card!

Greetings from Edersee

The Edersee is a large reservoir created by the construction, from 1908 to 1914, of a rock and concrete dam across the Eder river, near the small town of Waldeck in northern Hesse, Germany, to generate hydropower and regulate water levels for shipping on the Weser river. It lies at the northern edge of the Kellerwald.

George Washington Carver

George Washington Carver was an American scientist, botanist, educator, and inventor.Much of Carver’s fame is based on his research into and promotion of alternative crops to cotton, such as peanuts and sweet potatoes. He wanted poor farmers to grow alternative crops both as a source of their own food and as a source of other products to improve their quality of life.
